Olivetti Headquarters, Frankfurt

2001

architectural proposal

In the small architectural team at Professor Christoph Maeckler Architekten, Frankfurt, Lindsay was the key image-maker from 2000 to 2003, charged with developing Maeckler's iconic and heavily tectonic style in many important and landmark projects.

The context for this brief was atypical amongst Maeckler's ouevre because of its location within an urban edge condition. However, the task was to design a complementary structure to the iconic Olivetti Headquarters, a heritage listed modern masterpiece by Egon Eiermann.

The resulting, bold-figured design was well received yet ultimately could not satisfy concerns around the possible impact to the area's heritage image and silhouette.
